The 2018 Kids Health Symposium is a free community gathering to share insights from nationally-recognized experts about ways to improve child well-being. The event benefits Every Child Pediatrics, formerly Rocky Mountain Youth Clinics, and also includes awards to individuals and/or organizations that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to children, and stories about how Every Child Pediatrics supports the well-being of kids through a range of services, including screenings, behavioral health counseling and care navigation.
This year's keynote speaker is State Representative Leslie Herod. Representative Leslie Herod represents House District 8 in Northeast Denver, which includes the Denver office of Every Child Pediatrics. Elected in 2016, Rep. Herod is the first African American LGBT candidate elected to the Colorado State Legislature. She serves on the House committees of Judiciary, Finance and Legal Services and worked on legislation to support homeless youth, access to behavioral health and reproductive health care, criminal justice reform, immigration rights and Colorado entrepreneurs. In April 2018, Urban Peak, Colorado’s leading homeless youth service agency, honored Rep. Herod with the “Maverick Thinker” award for the impact she has made on the lives of homeless youth in Denver.
